Privacy Policy

This policy explains how information is handled when you visit the Northern Anaesthetic Practice website.

Last updated: 24 August 2026

1. Scope of this policy

Northern Anaesthetic Practice is responsible for the personal information described in this website policy. This policy applies only to visits to napmed.co.za.

The website is informational. It has no contact form, patient portal, online booking, user account, payment facility, newsletter signup or marketing subscription. It does not ask you to submit medical information through a web form.

If you contact the practice by telephone or email, or receive clinical care from a practitioner, that communication and any patient or clinical record are handled separately under applicable healthcare, professional and privacy requirements.

2. Information handled when you visit

Like most websites, the hosting and security infrastructure processes technical request information needed to deliver and protect the site. This can include your IP address, approximate location derived from that address, date and time, requested page, referring page, browser, device and operating-system information, and security or error events.

The site is delivered through Cloudflare. Cloudflare may process request and security logs on behalf of the practice and under its own service terms. Cloudflare's privacy information is available in its Privacy Policy.

Some current website images are delivered by Unsplash. When your browser requests one of those images, Unsplash receives technical request information such as your IP address, device or browser information and the referring page. See the Unsplash Privacy Policy.

3. Why this information is used

Technical information is used only as reasonably necessary to:

  • deliver the requested pages and website assets;
  • maintain availability, performance and security;
  • detect, investigate and prevent misuse, attacks and technical failures;
  • produce limited traffic statistics; and
  • comply with applicable legal obligations.

Optional analytics is based on your consent. Essential hosting and security processing is based on operating and protecting the website and the practice's legitimate interests, subject to applicable law.

4. Browser storage and optional analytics

The site stores one first-party preference, napmed-cookie-consent-v3, in your browser's local storage. It records only whether you selected accepted or denied. It remains until you clear browser data or the practice changes the consent version.

Google Tag Manager container GTM-KNXC5L is blocked unless you select “Accept optional cookies”. The container currently loads Google Analytics 4 measurement ID G-5MBE6CS7J5. Google Analytics may then collect page and session activity, approximate location, browser and device information, referrer information and a randomly generated client identifier. The site does not send names, email addresses or medical information to Google Analytics.

Google Analytics normally uses first-party cookies named _ga and _ga_* to distinguish visitors and maintain session state. Their default expiry is up to two years, subject to browser limits and the Analytics configuration. Google Analytics user-level and event-level retention is controlled in the Analytics property and must remain limited to what is reasonably necessary.

Advertising storage, advertising user data and advertising personalisation remain denied regardless of your analytics choice. If you deny optional cookies, the Google Tag Manager script is not requested and no data is sent to Google through this integration.

You can change or withdraw your choice through Cookie settings in the footer. Withdrawing consent updates the setting, removes accessible first-party analytics cookies and reloads the page without Google Tag Manager. You may also clear cookies and local storage in your browser.

For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy and its Google Analytics cookie information.

5. Service providers, transfers and retention

The practice does not sell personal information collected through this website. Technical information may be processed by Cloudflare for hosting, delivery and security; by Google only after optional analytics is accepted; and by external image hosts when their images are requested.

These providers may process information in countries outside South Africa. Where required, the practice will use providers and arrangements intended to provide an appropriate level of protection for transferred personal information.

Information is kept only for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was processed, applicable security requirements and legal obligations. Provider-controlled retention also depends on the applicable service configuration and contract.

6. Your privacy rights

Subject to applicable law, you may ask whether the practice holds personal information about you and request access to, correction of or deletion of that information. You may object to certain processing, withdraw consent for optional analytics and lodge a complaint with South Africa's Information Regulator.

More information about South African privacy rights is available from the Information Regulator and in the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013.

Because this site does not have accounts or forms, the practice may hold no directly identifying website information with which to match a request. Reasonable verification may be required before disclosing or changing personal information.

7. Security and external links

The practice uses reasonable technical and organisational measures appropriate to this small static website, including HTTPS delivery and restricted administrative access. No internet service can be guaranteed completely secure.

This site contains telephone, email and third-party links. Following a third-party link or using your telephone or email application is subject to that service's own privacy practices.

8. Changes to this policy

This policy will be updated when the website, analytics configuration or relevant processing changes. The date at the top identifies the current version.
